encouragement and greetings from churches across the country.
To support and encourage family values and togetherness.

Nedra MeltonNedra Melton

Nedra began singing in Whittier, California.  At the age of 16 she won the Southern California Soprano Solo Contest and made an album at Capitol Records as part of the winnings.  She also received a College Scholarship.  During the early years of George & Nedra's marriage, George sang with the quartets and Nedra sang with several Ladies Trios.  Often they were on the same platform.

Rhonda Melton McNerneyRhonda Melton McNerney
Rhonda is from Vestaburg, Michigan, and is in love with the Lord. She is a mother of three, Alisa, Anna and Samuel, and the wife of Tom McNerney, who is the minister of the Vestaburg Church of Christ. Rhonda is a singer, inspirational speaker, and Para-pro at the Vestaburg Community Schools. She is the oldest child of George and Nedra Melton. Rhonda has been encouraging others with her voice all of her life, singing with a number of gospel groups, among them, Celebration, GoForth and most recently a women’s trio, Everlasting, singing with good friends Pam Avers and Amy Emmert at the NACC and throughout Michigan and Indiana.
Rhonda is excited about singing with her family and thrilled for this opportunity. She is looking forward to getting to know those the Melton’s have been singing to throughout the years. Her prayer is that she can encourage others to live their lives, everyday, to please our Father, the King.

Kenny MeltonKenny Melton
Kenny is an ordained Music Minister and one of five children in the Melton family, growing up singing. He started full-time in the family ministry in 1990. Kenny continued with "The Melton Family Singers" until the opportunity arose for him to travel in a full-time ministry with his twin sister Rachel.  Kenny and Rachel formed the group "CrossWalk" in 1998. CrossWalk sang an of average of two hundred and fifty concerts a year through 2007.

After CrossWalk Kenny started traveling again with "The Melton Family Singers." When asked about his personal ministry within The Meltons, Kenny’s reply was.  I am thankful to be able to make a living doing what I love: “SINGING”; about the message I  love: “THE GOSPEL”; with those I love: “FAMILY.”

Kenny says his goal is to, “WIN THE LOST AND ENCOURAGE THE SAINTS THROUGH MUSIC.”

George MeltonGeorge Melton (1937-2010)

When one thinks of the Melton Family Singers, one thinks of George Melton. On May 15, 2010, George went home to be with the Lord.

George was a man with a heart for God, desiring to use his voice to spread the gospel message.  He was faithful to this calling for more than 50 years.  In high school he began singing in a Gospel Quartet.  He then went to college and sang with an a cappella group called the "Ambassadors" for five years.  In 1961 George joined the "Claiborne Brothers Quartet" in Southern California.  From there he went north to Fresno and joined the ministry of the "Gospelaires"
.

New Beginnings
In 1968 George formed the "Gospel Lads".  For five years he traveled and sang with these men and God blessed their ministry.  Part of the original group of the "Gospel Lads" are still singing.  The Lads have been ministering for over thirty years.  People have come to know the Lord, young people have been directed to Christian Bible Colleges, and still others have sought a career in Gospel Music.

God had given George one of the highest tenor voices in modern Gospel Music. He had been offered many positions in the entertainment field, but felt that God called him to minister to Churches across the nation.

Romance Enters The Scene
While singing with the Claiborne Brothers Quartet, a young lady with a beautiful voice (Nedra), sang in a trio at several of their concerts.  It wasn't long before love took over and the two were married.

In 1973 George left the Gospel Lad's and moved to Peoria, Illinois.  George and Nedra began singing together around the area.  The children grew, their voices matured, and one by one they began singing with Mom & Dad.

With this the "Melton Family Singers" became established.  Each of the children have sung in the group at one time or another. Rhonda, David, Rachel, Kenny, & Andy are all loving and serving the Lord today.
