The Melton Family Singers and You... Serving Jesus Together!

Our Goals:

To sing out the message of the Gospel.
To encourage
people to want to share their faith.
To up-lift local congregations.
To provide these local congregations a way to feel connected with other Christians nationwide.
To bring
encouragement and greetings from churches across the country.
To support and encourage family values and togetherness.

George Melton

A portrait of George Melton. He is a man with a heart for God, desiring to use his voice to spread the gospel message.  He has been faithful to this calling for 50 years.  In high school he began singing in a Gospel Quartet.  He went to college and sang with an a cappella group called the "Ambassadors" for five years.  In 1961 George joined the "Claiborne Brothers Quartet" in Southern California.  From there he went north to Fresno and joined the ministry of the "Gospelaires".

New Beginnings

In 1968 George formed the "Gospel Lads".  For five years he traveled and sang with these men and God blessed their ministry.  Part of the original group of the "Gospel Lads" are still singing.  The Lads have been ministering for over thirty years.  People have come to know the Lord, young people have been directed to Christian Bible Colleges, and still others have sought a career in Gospel Music.

God has given George one of the highest tenor voices in Gospel Music today.  He has been offered many positions in the entertainment field, but has felt that God called him to minister to Churches across the nation.

Romance Enters The Scene

While singing with the Claiborne Brothers Quartet, a young lady with a beautiful voice, sang in a trio at several of their concerts.  It wasn't long before love took over and the two were married.  George & Nedra Melton

Nedra Melton

A portrait of Nedra Melton. She began singing in Whittier, California.  At the age of 16 she won the Southern California Soprano Solo Contest and made an album at Capitol Records as part of the winnings.  She also received a College Scholarship.  During the early years of George & Nedra's marriage, George sang with the quartets and Nedra sang with several Ladies Trios.  Often they were on the same platform.

The Melton Family Establish Their Ministry

In 1973 George left the Gospel Lad's and moved to Peoria, Illinois.  George and Nedra began singing together around the area.  The children grew, their voices matured, and one by one they began singing with Mom & Dad.

Rhonda, David, Rachel, Kenny, & Andy are all loving and serving the Lord today.

With this the "Melton Family Singers" became established.  Each of the children have sung in the group at one time or another.  The family has grown, and George & Nedra now have twelve grandchildren: Alisa, Anna, Sam, Bailey, Brooklyn, Carver, Mckenna, Trevin, Kyle, Kadence, DeLaney, and McCabe.  Today, the group is a quartet.  George and Nedra and their son, David and daughter-in-law, Krista.  The Melton Family Singers travel more than 75,000 miles a year... trying to be home one week a month.

David Melton
A portrait of David Melton. He is the oldest son, and he has sung with the family all of his life, choosing to make this his career.  He has a beautiful lead-tenor voice which creates the group's style and sound.  He also shares the preaching ministry with his father.  David is a topnotch diesel mechanic and keeps the bus alive and well.  David is also the sound man and keeps the equipment working properly.

Then The Wedding Bells Rang Once Again...
While traveling these past few years, David's eye caught sight of a lovely young lady named Krista Kuhns.  He had heard her in concert, and they became friends.  She captured his heart, and they became: David & Krista Melton.  David and Krista had their first son named Trevin November 27th, 2000, and their second son named Kyle August 13th, 2003.  Kadence Melton joined their family on May 20, 2005.

Krista Melton
A portrait of Krista Melton. She is no stranger to Gospel Singing as she had a solo ministry before she met David.  David met Krista Kuhns at the Missouri Valley Gospel Sing in Missouri Valley, IA.  She was singing in churches, at fairs, and other occasions.  Krista started singing Gospel music at the age of 3 and sang her first complete concert at age 16.  She grew up in Little Sioux, IA.  After marrying David she moved into the bus and started traveling with the Melton's.  How good of the Lord to send her to be a part of our lives.
